Volleyball Recap: Maddison Wilburn Key Part of Team Effort in Patriots Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Brunswick Academy, Amelia Academy was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the Banner Christian Bearcats 3-0. The win was some much needed relief for the Patriots as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

The final score came out to 25-12, 25-12, 25-19.

Amelia Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maddison Wilburn led the charge by getting 11 aces and three assists. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Hooper, who had six kills and six aces.

They weren't the only good server: Amelia Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 30 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Amelia Academy's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Banner Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Amelia Academy will square off against rival Tidewater Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Banner Christian is set to challenge their familiar foe Southampton Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
