The Meade County Green Waves will take on the Taylor County Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Meade County 3.8, Taylor County 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Meade County took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They never let Male get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Not much got past Talan Ledford, who gave up just five hits to keep Male off the board.
On the hitting side, Meade County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grayson Rhodes, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. That's the most hits Rhodes has posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Taylor County won against Mercer County on Monday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Cardinals blew past Adair County 7-0. Considering the Cardinals have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Cole McLean was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. McLean was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaysen Thompson, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Grayson Kearney was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Taylor County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Adair County only posted a batting average of .048.
Taylor County pushed their record up to 15-3 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Meade County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.
