Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Meridian). They breezed past the Parkview Christian Patriots to the tune of 47-12 on Friday. That's more bragging rights for the Mustangs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
It was another big night for Jayton Jones, who rushed for 123 yards and three TDs on only 12 carries, and also threw for 144 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 12 passes. That's the most rushing touchdowns he has posted since back in October of 2024. Maddox Haake was another key player, gaining 202 total yards and a touchdown.
Meridian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jones and Haake.
Despite the loss, Parkview Christian still got an impressive performance from Luke Omel, who rushed for 93 yards on only 13 carries, and also caught one score.
Meridian now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Parkview Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
Meridian wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 56-6 win against Harvard on the 10th. As for Parkview Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 51-32 defeat against Lewiston on the 10th.
