Basketball Recap: Palm Grove Christian Comes Up Short

Palm Grove Christian lost against Grace Christian back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Palm Grove Christian Gators lost 61-40 to the Grace Christian Patriots. While losing is never fun, the Gators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 669th, while the Patriots are ranked 286th).

Despite the loss, Palm Grove Christian still got an impressive performance from Carter Baker, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds. Those 15 boards gave Baker a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Pitts, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 11 points.

Will Hawes continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Grace Christian, putting up 21 points.

Palm Grove Christian is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-12. As for Grace Christian, the win keeps them at an undefeated 19-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palm Grove Christian won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Community Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Palm Grove Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season. As for Grace Christian, they will also get right back to it: they'll square off against New Jerusalem Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (New Jerusalem Christian Academy has won three straight at home, while Grace Christian won eight straight on the road dating back to last season), something that'll have to change.
