Baseball Recap: Tradition Prep Comes Up Short

After flying high against Calvary Chapel Academy last Thursday, Tradition Prep came back down to earth. Tradition Prep fell just short of the Bayside Bears by a score of 2-1 on Friday.

Pablo Almonte put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over 5.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Tradition Prep is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-5-1 otherwise. Almonte was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Almonte wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aliet Garcia, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Tradition Prep now has a losing record of 5-6-1. As for Bayside, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tradition Prep will face off against Highland Park at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Bayside, they will challenge Heritage at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Bayside is facing Heritage at the right time seeing as Heritage is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
