Softball Recap: Chelsea's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak at Home

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Chelsea walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Pelham Panthers on Monday as they made off with a 9-3 win. Considering the Hornets have won 14 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Lorelei Beck spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Katie Hopson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 15 matchups. Another player making a difference was Caroline Brown, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Chelsea's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 27-16-2. As for Pelham, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-18.

Chelsea didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 13-3 defeat against Spain Park on the 28th. Pelham does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
