Whiting suffers fourth straight loss on the road

Recap: Whiting Oilers vs. Hanover Central Wildcats

The Whiting Oilers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 54-35 bruising from Hanover Central. Whiting has struggled against Hanover Central recently, as their match on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Whiting's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alyssa Quinones, who scored 13 points along with 4 steals. Quinones scored a full 37.1% of Whiting's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Liliana Lozano, who scored 7 points.

Hanover Central can attribute much of their success to Gabi Comia, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 10 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Comia has scored at least 25% of Hanover Central's points. Emmi Doty was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.

Whiting's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-5-1. As for Hanover Central, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Whiting will be playing at home against River Forest at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hanover Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Boone Grove at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Boone Grove will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 360th, while Hanover Central is ranked 79th).
