Softball Recap: Rochelle Wins Going Away Against Lutheran

Rochelle's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lutheran Crusaders a 15-0 shutout. The game marked the Hubs' most dominant victory of the season.

Lauren Dyer made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, seven RBI, and one double. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mya Martinez, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cheyenne Somers, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Rochelle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .714. They are 4-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Rochelle's win bumped their record up to 5-13. As for Lutheran, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rochelle will challenge Ottawa at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Lutheran, they will host North Boone at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Crusaders surely won't give up without a fight.
