The Gilbert Christian Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Scottsdale Christian Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Gilbert Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten matches.
Last Tuesday, Gilbert Christian beat Benjamin Franklin 63-51. Given Gilbert Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Benjamin Franklin is ranked 150th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gilbert Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lopemi. Omole, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Omole is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played. Jace Olson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Scottsdale Christian Academy pushed their score all the way to 61 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 66-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Camp Verde.
Gilbert Christian is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Scottsdale Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.
Gilbert Christian didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Scottsdale Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 67-61 victory. Will Gilbert Christian repeat their success, or does Scottsdale Christian Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
