Preview: Bishop Kenny Crusaders vs. Oakleaf Knights
The Bishop Kenny Crusaders on the road again on Tuesday and play against the Oakleaf Knights at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Oakleaf took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Bishop Kenny, who comes in off a win.
Last Thursday, Bishop Kenny faced Bolles in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Bishop Kenny snuck past Bolles with a 46-42 victory.
Clare Coyle and Riley Talbert were among the main playmakers for Bishop Kenny as the former dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds and the latter scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Sydney Roundtree, who scored nine points.
Oakleaf suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They fell just short of Raines by a score of 42-40. Oakleaf has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Bishop Kenny pushed their record up to 14-3 with that victory, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 22.17 points. As for Oakleaf, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.
Bishop Kenny beat Oakleaf 57-44 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Oakleaf's Kaylah Turner, who scored 29 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
