Softball Recap: Long Rebels vs. Opp Bobcats

Long extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 29-8 in the process. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Opp Bobcats. The shutout was out of character for the Rebels seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

Long saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anna Claire Free, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.

As for Opp, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games.

On Opp's side, Jaidyn Ivey was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI. That's the most RBI Ivey has posted since back in March. Taylor Adams was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Long has already played their next game, an 11-1 victory against Pike Liberal Arts on the 17th. As for Opp, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 6-2 win against Holmes County on the 17th.
