Basketball Recap: Wright City Takes a Loss

If Wright City was feeling good fresh off their 66-42 takedown of Valliant last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wright City Lumberjax were just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 67-66 to the Smithville Braves. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lumberjax this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 65-50 on January 7th.

Wright City lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Peyton Miller, who went 7 of 13 en route to 16 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Mia Reich, who posted 19 points and five assists.

With the defeat, Wright City broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-11. As for Smithville, the win keeps them at an undefeated 17-0.

Wright City will take on Antlers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday up 218 places (210 vs. 428). Wright City is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. Similarly, Smithville (ranked 58th) will meet Leflore (ranked 415th) at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Wright City is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.3 points per game this season.
