Basketball Recap: Sitka Comes Up Short

After flying high against Barrow on Thursday, Sitka came back down to earth. The Sitka Wolves were outmatched by the Mountain City Christian Academy Lions and fell 62-21. The match marked the Wolves' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mountain City Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Morgan Maldonado, who went 7-for-10 on her way to 17 points in addition to seven assists and five rebounds. The game was Maldonado's third in a row with at least 15 points. Keelie Kronberger was another key player, going 6-for-15 en route to 18 points and four steals.

Sitka's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Mountain City Christian Academy, their win was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2.

Sitka wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 62-17 victory against Non Varsity Opponent on the 14th. As for Mountain City Christian Academy, they have also already played their next contest, a 63-25 win against Lathrop on the 14th.
