Basketball Recap: Rowlett Comes Up Short

Rowlett was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a hard 70-54 fall against the Wylie East Raiders. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 550th, while the Raiders are ranked 242nd).

Despite the loss, Rowlett saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Braylon Griffith posted 18 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Those 18 points gave Griffith a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaydan Banks, who scored nine points and three steals.

Rowlett's defeat dropped their record down to 10-17. As for Wylie East, they have been performing well recently as they've won 15 of their last 18 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season.

Rowlett will challenge North Garland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Wylie East, they will take on Garland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Garland has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with 16 straight losses, while Wylie East will come in with four straight victories.
