Baseball Recap: Whitney Young Extends Winning Streak to Three

Whitney Young barely beat Amundsen the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Dolphins blew past the Vikings 13-3 on Friday. The win was familiar territory for the Dolphins, who have now won three games in a row.

Will Carter looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Whitney Young let Isaac Stoelinga and Luke Yolich run wild. Stoelinga went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Yolich went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Stoelinga is becoming a predictor of Whitney Young's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-10 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Kingsley Evans, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Whitney Young hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matches.

Whitney Young's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Amundsen, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-14.

Whitney Young wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 5-3 win against Simeon on the 19th. As for Amundsen, they have also already played their next game, a 10-4 defeat against Stevenson on the 19th.
