Football Recap: Clermont Northeastern Comes Up Short

Clermont Northeastern had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-4 to make it eight. They were beaten by the Cincinnati Country Day Nighthawks 35-8. Having soared to a lofty 40 points in the game before, the Rockets couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Cincinnati Country Day, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.0 points on average over those games.

Levi Guttman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 264 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.2 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 71 yards and one TD on only seven carries. Thomas Huckleby was Guttman's top target, picking up 85 receiving yards and one score.

Clermont Northeastern and Cincinnati Country Day will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Rockets are set to take on their familiar foe Blanchester at 7:00 p.m. on October 2. Meanwhile, Cincinnati Country Day will challenge rival New Miami at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
