West Central Area hasn't had much luck against Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Knights will head out on the road to take on the Tigers at 4:00 p.m.
West Central Area is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Breckenridge, falling 8-1.
Tucker McGee was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past New London-Spicer 7-1. The game was the first time the Tigers have beaten the Wildcats on their field since April 30, 2018.
Drew Huebner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over 5.2 innings pitched. Huebner was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs. Those hits marked the first that he has got this season.
In other batting news, Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta let Alex Asmus and Jonah Huebner run wild. Asmus went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Huebner went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that Asmus has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Marty, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New London-Spicer only managed six hits.
West Central Area's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta, they pushed their record up to 9-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
West Central Area couldn't quite get it done against Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 7-2. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
