Baseball Game Preview: Pierce City Eagles vs. Galena Bears

The Pierce City Eagles will square off against the Galena Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Pierce City has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Thursday, Pierce City didn't have quite enough to beat Ash Grove and fell 11-10. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Pirates: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, Galena suffered their closest defeat since April 23, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Spokane by a score of 10-8.

Bryce Wall put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Galena's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 3-1 (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Wall was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

He has become a key player for Galena: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Wyatt Doak was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Pierce City now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Galena, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
