Baseball Game Preview: Willcox Cowboys vs. St. Augustine Catholic Wolves

The Willcox Cowboys will head out to face off against the St. Augustine Catholic Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Willcox fell victim to Empire and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Ravens, falling 10-0. The Cowboys haven't had much luck with the Ravens recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, St. Augustine Catholic lost 16-2 to Tombstone on Tuesday.

Gabriel Dominguez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI.

Willcox's loss dropped their record down to 4-9-1. As for St. Augustine Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Willcox suffered a grim 11-4 defeat to St. Augustine Catholic in their previous meeting back in April of 2021. Can the Cowboys avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
