Baseball Game Preview: Northwest Mohawks vs. Oak Hill Oaks

Northwest is 1-8 against Oak Hill since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Mohawks will square off against the Oaks at 5:00 p.m. Northwest is coming into the match hot, having won their last eight games.

Northwest will bounce into Thursday's game after beating Minford, who they had gone 0-8 against in their eight prior meetings. The Mohawks blew past the Falcons 8-1 on Wednesday. Considering the Mohawks have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Oak Hill, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Eastern a 9-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Oaks haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Northwest's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Oak Hill, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.

Northwest beat Oak Hill 6-3 when the teams last played last Wednesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mohawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
