Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Berwick

Berwick entered their tilt with Franklin on Saturday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They didn't even let the Hornets on the board, marking their second-straight 24-0 shutout. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Hornets, too.

Shelby Taylor made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Taylor was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

In other batting news, Mia Stephens and Ann Marie Beadle did most of the damage at the plate: Stephens went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs, while Beadle went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and five RBI. Another player making a difference was Bryanne Davis, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two runs.

Berwick lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in four consecutive matchups.

Berwick's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Franklin, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

Berwick didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-6 win against Covenant Christian Academy on the 7th. Franklin has also already played their next contest (against Patterson), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
