Basketball Recap: Imani Christian Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Donovan Gordon and RJ Sledge

Imani Christian Academy was the 71-66 winner over Central Catholic when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Imani Christian Academy Saints fell just short of the Central Catholic Vikings by a score of 55-52 on Tuesday.

RJ Sledge and Donovan Gordon certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Sledge posted 25 points and seven steals, while Gordon put up 15 points and three steals. Sledge is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kieshaun Demus, who earned six points and five rebounds.

Imani Christian Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season. As for Central Catholic, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.

Imani Christian Academy will challenge Canon-McMillan at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Central Catholic, they will square off against Upper St. Clair at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Central Catholic is on a four-game streak of home wins, Upper St. Clair a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
