Softball Game Preview: Westlake Demons vs. Canfield Cardinals

The Westlake Demons will venture away from home to take on the Canfield Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Westlake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Last Monday, Westlake was able to grind out a solid victory over Rocky River, taking the game 10-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Demons.

Leni Salvator made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Salvator was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Katherine England, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs. Another player making a difference was Trudy Rocco, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Canfield had just enough and edged out Jackson 8-6 on Saturday.

Westlake's record is now 6-7. As for Canfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 matchups. That somehow still isn't as good as their 20-4-1 record this season.
