Baseball Recap: Armada Takes a Loss

Armada extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 9-14-1 in the process. They lost 10-4 to the North Branch Broncos. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Broncos this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-2 last Tuesday.

As for North Branch, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games.

For North Branch's part, Owen Yens made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Yens has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, Noah Wright and Elijah Mitchell did most of the damage at the plate: Wright went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Mitchell got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. John Robinson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Armada has already played their next game (against Port Huron), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. North Branch does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
