Basketball Recap: Greenville Beats Goose Creek for Their 19th Straight Win

With a playoff win on the line, Greenville rose to the challenge on Saturday. They walked away with an 81-71 win over the Goose Creek Gators. The victory was nothing new for the Red Raiders as they're now sitting on 19 straight.

Franklin Whitley continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 26 points and 14 boards. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last three games he's played. Caden Coleman was another key player, shooting 44% from the field on his way to 21 points.

Goose Creek's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Shane Potts, who went 11-for-16 en route to 29 points, and Ja'Quell Brown, who shot 53% from the field to rack up 27 points. Brown continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Langworthy, who posted six points and six assists.

Greenville pushed their record up to 28-2 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.5 points over those games. As for Goose Creek, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 25-4.

As of now, neither Greenville nor Goose Creek have any future games scheduled.
