Volleyball Recap: Millard West Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Tyler Torpy and Stella Neal

Millard West dropped down to 13-10 on Tuesday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Millard North Mustangs by a score of 3-2. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Millard West's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Stella Neal, who had 21 digs and one assist, and Tyler Torpy, who had 13 digs and two assists. Neal has been hot, having posted 14 or more digs the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Steely Ritterbush, who had 11 digs.

As for Millard North, the win got them back to even at 13-13. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since September 13th.

Millard North was led to victory by Hayden Sliva and Ava Whitmarsh. Sliva had 32 digs and two aces, while Whitmarsh had nine digs and two assists. Those 32 digs gave Sliva a new career-high. Marley Tracy also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Millard West has already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Bellevue West on the 20th. As for Millard North, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Westview on the 16th.
