Softball Game Preview: Goodrich Martians vs. Lakeville Falcons

The Goodrich Martians will square off against the Lakeville Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Goodrich is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.

On Wednesday, Goodrich earned a 7-2 victory over Adams.

Jayden Gohs was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since May 3rd.

In other batting news, Sophie Swanson was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ayannah Jackson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Lakeville's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clare.

Lakeville's loss dropped their record down to 17-5. As for Goodrich, their win bumped their record up to 24-8.

Goodrich took their victory against Lakeville in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Will the Martians repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
