Baseball Recap: Mantachie's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Mantachie's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They came out on top against the Biggersville Lions by a score of 8-4. The win was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Hayden Estes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Hudson Trulove was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double. He also got three hits, which is notable because Mantachie is undefeated when he posts at least three hits, but 1-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Colton Baxter, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Mantachie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Biggersville only posted an OBP of .370.

Mantachie's record is now 4-9. As for Biggersville, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mantachie will head out to challenge Thrasher at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Biggersville, they will venture away from home to face off against Alcorn Central at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
