Preview: Grasso Tech Eagles vs. Putnam Clippers
Grasso Tech is 0-7 against Putnam since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Grasso Tech Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Putnam Clippers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Grasso Tech struggled with assists on Friday (Cheney RVT had 12 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Grasso Tech was beaten by Cheney RVT 82-46. Grasso Tech has struggled against Cheney RVT recently, as their match on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Grasso Tech got a solid performance out of Nick Stavesky, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Charis Johnson, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Putnam's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 70-53 to Tourtellotte.
Grasso Tech has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. As for Putnam, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-11.
Grasso Tech came up short against Putnam in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 67-60. Can Grasso Tech avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
