Softball Game Preview: Walla Walla Blue Devils vs. Southridge Suns

The Walla Walla Blue Devils will venture away from home to take on the Southridge Suns at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southridge took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Walla Walla, who comes in off a win.

Walla Walla is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Pasco on Friday as they made off with a 20-1 win. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Rory Burke ?25 was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Mclaughlin ?26, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs and one double.

Walla Walla always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Southridge came up short against Richland on Thursday and fell 13-8. The Suns have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jadyn Holdren was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one double. Anna Marty also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Walla Walla's record is now 3-11. As for Southridge, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.

Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Walla Walla has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .431. However, it's not like Southridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .446. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
