Baseball Recap: Kiowa Comes Up Short

If Kiowa was feeling good fresh off their 13-2 takedown of Elbert on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Indians lost 13-7 to the Simla Cubs on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Indians of the 10-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Ryker Robinett made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Kiowa: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Watt, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI.

Kiowa's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Simla, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Kiowa will take on Peyton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 11.4 runs per game this season. As for Simla, they will venture away from home to challenge Flatirons Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bison's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Cubs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
