Triway is 8-2 against Manchester since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Titans will take on the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Triway is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.
On Wednesday, Triway earned an 11-6 victory over Canton South.
Kenzie Gatti was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Myah Lester, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Triway was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are 9-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Manchester narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Tuslaw 6-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.
Rachel Baker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Alli Hodgkinson was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Saige Rankin also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Manchester's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Triway, their record now sits at 10-4.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Triway has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .497. However, it's not like Manchester struggles in that department as they've averaged .455. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Triway couldn't quite get it done against Manchester in their previous meeting on April 3rd as they fell 8-4. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
