Preview: South Ripley Raiders vs. South Dearborn Knights
South Ripley is 7-1 against South Dearborn since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The South Ripley Raiders will be staying on the road to face off against the South Dearborn Knights at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Saturday, South Ripley was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 51-45 to Oldenburg Academy.
South Ripley's defeat came about despite a quality game from Lexi Franklin, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Reese Obendorf, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, South Dearborn's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 60-38 walloping at the hands of Batesville. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for South Dearborn in their matchups with Batesville: they've now lost eight in a row.
South Ripley's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for South Dearborn, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.
Everything came up roses for South Ripley against South Dearborn in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 57-28 victory. Will South Ripley repeat their success, or does South Dearborn have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
