5A Region II District 15 recap December 3, 2013
Lake Travis added to the longest winning streak in 5A Region II District 15 this week by beating Dallas Jesuit, 55-30. The victory was the 11th in a row for the Cavaliers.
Lake Travis took down the Rangers 55-30 last week, the largest margin of any game. Varshaun Nixon ran for 334 yards in the win.
Hank Carter's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Dominic De Lira threw for 128 and 1 touchdown and Tyler Payne had 76 yards receiving. On the ground Nixon chipped in 334 yards. Grant Foster helped Lake Travis' passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 33 yards.
Nixon was a force in the backfield as the Cavaliers topped Dallas Jesuit.
Nixon was a passing and rushing force as Lake Travis topped Brandon Hickman's team. Nixon's key target this week was Payne, who caught 5 passes for 76 yards.
Nixon was the most successful running back in the league this week. Teammate Michael Mullett added to the ground attack by rushing for 24 yards.
Lake Travis' offense cannot be tamed this season and the Cavaliers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. De Lira has thrown for 2,111 yards and 24 touchdowns this season, while Payne has 48 catches for 860 yards.
