Volleyball Recap: Shadyside Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Shadyside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Wheeling Central Catholic Maroon Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Maroon Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 two weeks ago.

Shadyside was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-21, 25-16.

Despite the loss, Shadyside still got an impressive performance from Ali Weatherson, who had ten digs and one block. Weatherson is also crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 14 every time she's taken the court this season. Aubrey Nippert was another key player, getting nine digs, five kills, and two aces.

Shadyside's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Wheeling Central Catholic, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shadyside will square off against River at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Wheeling Central Catholic, they will head out to take on Brooke at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
