New Palestine came tearing into Friday's match with 14 straight wins dating back to last season (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.6 points), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 28-6 margin over the Decatur Central Hawks. This was payback for the Dragons, who suffered a 43-42 loss the last time these two teams met.

The critical scores for New Palestine came from Mason Oglesby, Caden Jacobia, Josh Ranes, and Cameron Rollyson.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed 16 in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jacobia, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a punt return touchdown from Rollyson.

New Palestine didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Leading the way was Garrett Ranes and his one interception.

New Palestine's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Decatur Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

New Palestine and Decatur Central will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Dragons will square off against rival Yorktown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Decatur Central is set to face off against their familiar foe Whiteland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
