Baseball Game Preview: Greenwood Gators vs. Metcalfe County Hornets

The Greenwood Gators will square off against the Metcalfe County Hornets at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Greenwood's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home while Metcalfe County has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.

Greenwood is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kentucky's top teams: St. Xavier, who was ranked third at the time (Greenwood was ranked eighth). The Gators' pitchers stepped up to hand the Tigers a 3-0 shutout on Friday.

Meanwhile, Metcalfe County came up short against Adair County on Friday and fell 7-2.

Greenwood is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Metcalfe County, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.
