Volleyball Recap: Eldon Mustangs vs. Helias Crusaders

If Eldon was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of California on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mustangs came up short against the Helias Crusaders on Monday, falling 3-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Crusaders: they've now lost seven in a row.

The final score came out to 25-17, 25-17, 25-11.

Sara Mccoy paced Eldon's offense, picking up ten kills. Mccoy got some help from Kaydin Davis and her 23 assists.

Helias had a senior duo take command as Sophie Verslues had 24 digs and two assists and Liza Boyer had 14 digs and three assists. Verslues has been hot, having posted 13 or more digs the last six times she's played.

Eldon's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 22-11. As for Helias, the win (which was their 15th in a row) raised their record to 32-1-1.

Eldon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Helias, they will take on Hallsville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
