Softball Recap: Providence Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Providence blew Polytechnic out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Polytechnic got their revenge. The Pioneers fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 7-5. Pioneers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Panthers since on Thursday.

Madelynn Watts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Evangelina Aleman stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Mia Allinson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Providence's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4. As for Polytechnic, their record now sits at 8-6.

Providence wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-3 victory against Chadwick on the 29th. As for Polytechnic, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 9-8 defeat against Flintridge Prep on the 29th.
