Softball Game Preview: Fulton Red Raiders vs. Jamesville-DeWitt Red Rams

Fulton hasn't had much luck against Jamesville-DeWitt recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Red Raiders are taking a road trip to take on the Red Rams at 5:00 p.m. Fulton will be strutting in after a win while Jamesville-DeWitt will be coming in after a loss.

Fulton is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Jordan-Elbridge on Saturday. The Red Raiders put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 12-1 victory. The Red Raiders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Emma Spaulding made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Riley Trude was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Claire Dempsey was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

Fulton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .378. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Jamesville-DeWitt fell victim to Central Square and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 9-0 to the Redhawks. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Red Rams have suffered since April 15, 2025.

Jamesville-DeWitt's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Fulton, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Fulton came up short against Jamesville-DeWitt in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, falling 5-2. Can the Red Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
