Baseball Recap: Saturday's Loss Ends Sun Prairie East's Winning Streak

Sun Prairie East dropped their record down to 11-3 on Saturday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They lost 12-3 to the Hudson Raiders. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in June of 2024.

As for Hudson, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

For Hudson's part, Myles Howe tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Howe has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Hudson let Jace Mataczynski and Sam Manchester run wild. Mataczynski went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Manchester went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Silas Heisler, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Coming up, Sun Prairie East will be playing at home against Middleton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Middleton will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Sun Prairie East surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hudson, they will head out on the road to take on New Richmond at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Raiders 4.1, the Tigers 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
