Softball Game Preview: Hutchison Hawks vs. Delta Huskies

Hutchison is 1-9 against Delta since May of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Hawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Huskies at 5:00 p.m. Hutchison has given up an average of 13.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hutchison is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Lathrop, who was ranked 16th at the time (Hutchison was ranked 22nd). The Hawks came up short against the Malemutes on Saturday, falling 14-4. The Hawks just can't catch a break and have now endured five losses in a row.

Delta came out on top against North Pole on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run first inning. The Huskies took their match against the Patriots 10-6. The victory continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won nine in a row.

Hutchison's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Delta, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.

Everything went Hutchison's way against Delta in their previous meeting on May 3rd, as Hutchison made off with an 11-2 victory. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
