Basketball Recap: Lakewood Takes a Loss

Lakewood was the 51-45 winner over Darlington when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Lakewood Gators were beaten by the Darlington Falcons 57-29 on Friday. The Gators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Lakewood saw an underclassman step up: freshman Lauryn Nesmith posted ten points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Shareanna McFadden, who had three points and eight rebounds.

Lakewood's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Darlington, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Lakewood didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 74-22 defeat against Lexington on the 21st. As for Darlington, they will be taking part in a tournament against McBee at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday.
