Soccer Game Preview: Ferndale vs. Blaine

The Ferndale Golden Eagles will square off against the Blaine Borderites at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Ferndale and four for Blaine.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Ferndale and Lynden, and Lynden kept the tradition alive. The Golden Eagles took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions on Saturday. The shutout was out of character for Ferndale seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

Meanwhile, Blaine also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Sehome by a score of 3-1. While losing is never fun, Blaine can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington soccer rankings (they are ranked 241st, while Sehome are ranked 27th).

Ferndale's loss dropped their record down to 3-6-5. As for Blaine, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.

Ferndale took their victory against Blaine when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 4-1 score. Will the Golden Eagles repeat their success, or do the Borderites have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
