Softball Recap: Caroline Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Caroline got themselves on the board against Culpeper County on Tuesday, but Culpeper County never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Blue Devils. The Cavaliers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Caroline got a massive performance out of Alyssa Bray, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Bray a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Anderson, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Caroline was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in four consecutive games.

Caroline's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Culpeper County, they moved to 6-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Caroline will venture away from home to take on Eastern View at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cavaliers 1.7, the Cyclones 0.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Culpeper County, they will head out to face off against Chancellor at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Devils are facing the Chargers at the right time seeing as the Chargers are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
