Softball Game Preview: Jefferson Silver Foxes vs. El Paso Tigers

The Jefferson Silver Foxes will head out to square off against the El Paso Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jefferson has given up an average of 7.3 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Jefferson lost 22-2 to Chapin on Friday. The Silver Foxes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jefferson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elizabella Qui?onez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one double. Qui?onez has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last nine times she's played. Another was Isabel Sealey, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Meanwhile, El Paso came into Friday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Andress 11-0 on Friday. The Tigers not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since February 18th.

The team relied heavily on Sophie Gomez, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of London Leyva Dand, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

El Paso always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Andress only posted an OBP of .278.

Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for El Paso, their record now sits at 7-16.

Jefferson came up short against El Paso in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 14-9. Can Jefferson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
