Basketball Recap: Havelock Takes a Loss

If Havelock was riding high fresh off their 49-24 takedown of Northside - Jacksonville two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Havelock Rams had to suffer through a 68-24 loss at the hands of the South Central Falcons. The defeat continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now lost eight in a row.

Despite the loss, Havelock still got an impressive performance from Kaitlynn Howell, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 12 points.

South Central was led to victory by Kaelyn McCarter and Niyani Mayo. McCarter went 10 for 12 en route to 23 points and three steals, while Mayo posted 11 points along with eight assists and six steals. Those eight assists gave Mayo a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Natalia White, who made all 5 shots she took for 11 points.

Havelock's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for South Central, they pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Havelock has already played their next matchup, a 38-37 defeat against J.H. Rose on the 30th. As for South Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 91-23 victory against New Bern on the 31st.
