Soccer Recap: Amherst County Starts Season with Win Against Nelson County

Amherst County gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Nelson County Governors a 1-0 shutout. Amherst County haven't had any issues with Nelson County recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Nelson County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Amherst County will face off against Liberty Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give Amherst County their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Nelson County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Alleghany at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Nelson County is facing Alleghany at the right time seeing as Alleghany is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
