Football Game Preview: Nipmuc Regional Warriors vs. Montachusett RVT Bulldogs

Nipmuc Regional is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Saturday. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Montachusett RVT Bulldogs at 2:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Nipmuc Regional is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Medfield on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Nipmuc Regional lost 44-22 to Medfield. Nipmuc Regional was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-16.

Despite their defeat, Nipmuc Regional saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Josh Giancola, who rushed for 46 yards and one TD, and also threw for 161 yards while completing 73.9% of his passes, was perhaps the best of all. A healthy portion of Giancola's aerial production (113 yards to be exact) went to Johnny Desmond, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Meanwhile, Montachusett RVT was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 14-12 heartbreaker at the hands of Blackstone-Millville.

Montachusett RVT's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Nipmuc Regional, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
