Ponderosa proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 46) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won a contest that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Vista del Lago Eagles 13-12. That's more bragging rights for the Bruins, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The critical scores for Ponderosa came from Aleyah Cruz and Lily Thomas.

One reason for the win was Ponderosa's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. Ann Dunham was especially locked on to Vista del Lago's QB and sacked her four times.

Ponderosa is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.8 points on average over those games.
